By downloading, installing, or using LangLens you agree to this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Service, and the End User License Agreement. If you do not agree, do not download, install, or use the app.

What LangLens is

LangLens is an independent macOS menu-bar application for translating on-screen text. It is free to download and use. There is no account and no sign-in.

On-device recognition

When you select text on your screen, LangLens reads it on your Mac using Apple's built-in Vision framework. The temporary screenshot used for recognition is deleted immediately after use. It is never uploaded and never stored by LangLens.

Translation

After recognition, the text you selected is sent over an encrypted connection to a third-party machine-translation service so it can be translated. The translation is returned to your Mac and shown in the app. Only the text you select is sent. LangLens does not write it to your clipboard, does not save it, does not log it, and does not keep a history.

Usage statistics

The shared translation service keeps anonymous aggregate counts only: how many translations were made, how many characters were sent, which target languages text was translated into, and which source languages were auto-detected, broken down by day. The translated text itself is never stored.

Downloads and hosting

When you download LangLens from this website, the request passes through standard web hosting. Hosting providers may process basic connection metadata, such as your IP address, in their own server logs. LangLens does not store such records itself.

Website analytics

This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to count anonymous page views. It does not track you across other sites and does not receive any text you translate in the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the app or website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
